About Creative Dance Lab
Drawing from contemporary dance and physical theatre, students will be introduced to both dance technique (warm-up, stretching, floor work) and improvisational movement games that expand range of movement, build confidence, collaboration and leadership skills. Participants will embody elements, materials and animals in the natural world and create original "dances" working in partners and as an ensemble. This pilot class will model small group creative mentorship, incorporating emergent learning and will culminate in a workshop showing on the last day of class.

About the Instructor
Lucia Rich (she/her) is a Performing Arts Educator, Yoga/Wellness Instructor, SomaSource Practitioner devoted to the practice of embodiment through her personal practice, teaching and performing for the past 20 years. From the ages of 7-21 yrs, Lucia studied gymnastics, mask, movement and improvisational dance with former All American gymnast, dancer and visual artist, Juliette Daley in a small group setting. This artistic mentorship model shaped Lucia's approach to teaching, which is experimental, tailored towards the unique individual and is deeply process oriented. This early love of movement led Lucia to train professionally in contemporary, classical, improvisational and somatic dance forms. She has worked as a choreographer, movement director and educator, teaching dance, physical theatre, puppetry, clown and yoga to all ages in New York City and across the US, including The New School, Hunter College, Professional Performing Arts School, Perry-Mansfield School and Camp, Rocky Mountain Theatre for Kids, Actors Academy and University of Connecticut.
