Classes for all ages through the Sacred & Expressive Arts
About Lucia
Lucia Rich is a SomaSource Practitioner, Yoga/Wellness Instructor and Performing Arts Educator deeply devoted to the practice of embodiment through her personal practice, performing and teaching of the Sacred and Expressive Arts. Infusing spirit into all her offerings, she creates ritual space and creative community for all ages through her unique classes and workshops designed to unite body, mind and heArt.
From the ages of 7-21 yrs, Lucia studied gymnastics, mask, movement and improvisational dance with former All American gymnast, dancer and visual artist, Juliette Daley in a small group setting. This artistic mentorship model shaped Lucia's approach to teaching, which is experimental, tailored towards the unique individual and is deeply process oriented.
A lifelong love of movement later led Lucia to train professionally in contemporary, classical, improvisational and somatic dance forms. She has worked as a choreographer, movement director and educator, teaching dance, movement and physical theater to all ages in New York City and across the US, including The New School, Hunter College, Professional Performing Arts School, Perry-Mansfield School and Camp, Rocky Mountain Theatre for Kids, Actors Academy and University of Connecticut.
After completing an MFA in Lecoq-Based, Actor Created Physical Theatre from London International School of Performing Arts in 2005, collaborations in dance, physical theater, puppetry and clown have taken Lucia to venues world-wide from New York City to California, Canada, Scotland, England, France, Germany, Bulgaria and Turkey.
Also in 2005, Lucia was introduced to conscious dance and the work of Melissa Michaels, Ed.D, founder of Golden Bridge and SomaSource in Boulder, CO. Using somatic movement as a tool for personal and spiritual growth, Lucia studied 5Rhythms dance extensively with Melissa over a 7 year training and mentorship period. In the Summer of 2022, she returned to Boulder to complete her SomaSource LifeCyles Practitioner Training (*ICMETA accreditation pending) and returned to Westchester to and began teaching Dancing Home classes in Spring of 2023.
Also in 2023, Lucia established Embodied Arts & Wellness, bringing somatic education, ritual space and creative community to all ages through the sacred and expressive arts.
