Three Movements, one return

Return Home to Your Body

Before anything else, come back home to yourself through intuitive movement and somatic practice.  Drop out of your head and into your body, releasing the chronic tension of caregiving and rediscover what it feels like to inhabit

your own skin again.

Create Space for Expression

From that embodied place, we find pathways for self-expression through art, reflective writing, and play. Flow begins to return, not as an achievement,  but as a state of being.  You don't need to be an artist. There is nothing to be good at. Just tools to help you come home to your unique creative spark.

Find Your Belonging

Being witnessed inside a an intimate circle of women transforms personal reflection into deeper healing.  Sharing through reflective writing and conscious council, you begin to reclaim the parts of you that motherhood asked you to put down, and discover who you are now.

"Creating and processing the motherhood experience alongside other women - sitting on the floor together, making and moving, felt primal and comforting in a way I didn’t expect. I’m very grateful I said yes to this experience.

Does this sound familiar?

There is a version of you who moved

through the world differently.

A little less tired, a little more wild.

But motherhood asked you to  set her down.

Just for now.

Except now has lasted a long time.

Creativity is not a luxury that you lost the right to.
It is the doorway back in.

That version of you has been hovering close by, like a hummingbird, waiting for you to welcome her back.
All you have to do is put out the feeder.

You want to come back to your own interests

without feeling guilty.

You want to remember who you are

outside of the role of caretaker.

You want to stop powering through your days

and actually feel something.

You want to come back into ownership of your body

and feel confident in your own skin again.

You are in the right place if...

IMG_6528 2.jpg

You are a mother who really needs a break,

but you feel guilty taking time away from your kids.

You are disconnected from your own body

and don't remember the last time you did something just for the joy of it.

You have a creative practice,

but you're not sure how to enter back into it.

You never thought of yourself as particularly creative,

but you feel pulled towards discovering

something new.

You are at a threshold moment in your life,

and you want to remember or discover for the first time who you are when you are not being needed.

You crave meaningful connection with other women,

not just small talk, but real, unhurried connection.

Caryn Davis,
Mom of two, public school teacher

I loved the idea of being mothered myself, of holding space for rediscovering my creative side. What I found was a way to move where my body led me without performing. I’m starting to really care for and listen to myself, and I notice the people-pleaser in me stepping back while a more empowered version of me steps forward. For the first time in my life, I actually feel my body, and it’s all so new and freeing.

Katie Tanski,
At-home Mom of two

I realized the real urgency of dance in my life, as a way to move emotions through instead of harboring them. That shift alone has helped me clear my mind more than I expected. I feel more confident, more joyful, and more generous now. I’ve started making decisions based on my own opinion and choice instead of automatically deferring to everyone else.  Knowing other women were on this same path made all of it feel validating instead of indulgent.

Melissa Sarno,
Mom of two, writer

I came into Mothering the Maker with a creative practice I didn’t know how to find my way back to. What shifted was permission. I stopped feeling like I needed my partner’s or kids’ okay to take time for my own work. A buzzing creative energy came with it. I walked away with three new short story ideas, and I started giving myself quiet afternoons for baking, stretching, and being outside, things I used to write off as frivolous. Dancing playfully, without worrying how it looked, turned out to be revelatory. It connected me to myself and to my creative spirit.

A map back to yourself.
